Faye Terry
Faye coordinates SF-based program enrollment, is the primary contact person for parents/students/partners in the Next Gen program, and helps support Youth Program Manager in facilitating Youth Programs orientations, field tripFayeTerrys, events, and showcases. She is the in-person point person for students/instructors during Next Gen programming. Andy Kawanami
Andy was at BAVC from 2010-2015 and has recently rejoined the organization in 2022 as the Director of Community Media. In addition to overseeing SF Commons, San Francisco's community media access center, Andy also leads BAVC's fee-for-service production department - BAVC Productions. Andy has produced a wide range of projects across industries and public sectors including entertainment, nonprofit, healthcare, and government. Andy is a San Francisco native and began his career directing and producing music videos for local Bay Area artists. Jessica Epstein
Jess Epstein is the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Development at BAVC Media, where she leads relationship-building, fundraising strategy, and cross-sector collaborations that support and sustain the organization’s current and future programming. In this role, she works closely with philanthropic partners, industry leaders, and community or Jess joined BAVC Media in April 2023, bringing nearly 15 years of experience as a documentary producer and impact strategist focused on character-driven storytelling and public engagement. Katherine Pertuso
Katherine Pertuso is the Associate Director of Creative & Marketing at BAVC Media. She leads the design and creation of marketing collateral, including digital assets for social media, email, website, and printed materials in addition to managing the editorial calendar. Katherine joined BAVC Media in March 2023. She's previously supported the content and design strategy at several art and film nonprofits including CAFILM (DocLands, MVFF) and the Ann Arbor Film Festival. She has a BA in Journalism with a specialization in Visual Communication from Michigan State University.
Jin Yoo-Kim
As a Co-Director of the BAVC MediaMaker Fellowship Jin serves alongside Dawn Valadez in mentoring the BAVC MediaMaker Fellowship, an important "early in" artist development program that provides first-time feature doc directors with critical mentorship and an inclusive space for workshopping projects over the course of 5 convenings in 10 months. Jin Yoo-Kim joined BAVC Media in March 2023. Daniel DÃaz
As Deputy Director of BAVC Media, Daniel DÃaz leads the organization's Marketing team, responsible for the organization’s brand, audience development, communications, and creative direction. He also oversees BAVC Media's Artist Development and Community Media departments, as well as supporting BAVC Preservation. Daniel has worked across marketing, distribution, and production in Europe, South America and the US. He joined BAVC Media in 2022 as Director of Marketing after two years at the California Film Institute. Xiarel Guillermo-Cortes
Xiarel GC is a Youth Media Instructor at BAVC Media. They are an alumnus of the Bridges Live Fellowship (2023) and the Youth Media Making Summer Intensive (2020). Their focus is youth development, and they are responsible for teaching all aspects of live video production in Bay Area-based youth programs. Timoteo Flynn-Valadez
Timoteo Flynn-Valadez is the Program Tech Coordinator for BAVC Media, responsible for organizing equipment across departments, handling checkouts to students, staff and BAVC Media members as well as troubleshooting tech issues and finding thoughtful solutions to technical issues. Teo also teaches classes in video and audio production. Timoteo Flynn-Valadez is an SF State graduate with a degree in Broadcasting and Electronic Communication Arts. Sara Pedersen
Sara Pedersen is BAVC Media’s Operations Manager, responsible for supporting all of the organization’s departments through general facility and operations oversight. She works with the Finance team to facilitate incoming and outgoing payments and helps manage office operations and procedures. Sara has been a part of BAVC Media since early 2019. She joined the organization after a varied career in the tech, retail, and hospitality industries, including a stint as a vintage clothing shop owner. Kathleen Lam
Kathleen Lam is the Compliance Specialist at BAVC Media, responsible for overseeing legal and policy compliance as well as compliance with funder requirements. Kathleen joined BAVC Media in 2019 as the Finance & Operations Director. She has an MBA from American University, specializing in social entrepreneurship, and has worked in corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors. Kathleen spends her free time knitting, baking, and chauffeuring her kids to all their activities.
