As a Co-Director of the BAVC MediaMaker Fellowship Jin serves alongside Dawn Valadez in mentoring the BAVC MediaMaker Fellowship, an important “early in” artist development program that provides first-time feature doc directors with critical mentorship and an inclusive space for workshopping projects over the course of 5 convenings in 10 months.

Jin Yoo-Kim joined BAVC Media in March 2023. She directed and produced a docu-series episode (Boyle Heights ep. of TAKE OUT WITH LISA LING), and feature documentaries (She produced & impact produced MANZANAR, DIVERTED: WHEN WATER BECOMES DUST). She is an impact mentor and consults on projects from production to impact strategy. She received her MFA in Film from USC and a BA in Psychology and Cinema & Media Studies from Wellesley College.

She has produced 3 feature documentaries and worked on the impact campaigns for 6 feature films, served as an impact mentor for the 2022 A-Doc x Haverford Impact Lab for LIQUOR STORE DREAMS, is a regional board member for DPA, was a 2022 US – South Korea NextGen Creative Fellow and a 2022-2023 Sundance Women to Watch Adobe Fellow. Jin was also a 2020 Sundance Creative Producers Fellow, a 2020 Film Independent X CNN Original Series Docuseries Fellow, a 2020-2021 Redford Center fellow, a 2020 Film Independent Doc Lab fellow, and a 2017 Firelight Media Impact Producing Fellow.

When she’s not working, Jin is eating her way through LA with her husband and son, planting weird plants in her greenhouse, and documenting it all in her bullet journal and multiple Instagram accounts.
