they/them

Leena is the San Francisco Youth and Emerging Media Makers Program Manager. Through program evaluation and development, curriculum review, instructor support, and coordinating partnerships with local schools and orgs, Leena supports the learning of young media makers and growth of BAVC Media’s San Francisco-based youth programs.

Leena joined BAVC Media in March of 2024 with experience teaching Digital/New Media arts and youth-focused arts and writing initiatives within SFUSD and Oakland-based studio for disabled artists, Creative Growth Art Center. As an artist who came of age within DIY, punk, and queer communities, Leena values working toward collective liberation through the empowerment of young and systemically marginalized voices.

They hold an MFA from UC Berkeley’s department of Art Practice and are a musician, filmmaker, and published poet.

Outside of BAVC Media, Leena is a thrifting, music, and nature devotee. They enjoy road trips, weekly film-watching at Bay Area movie theaters, and making elaborate dinners with friends and family.
