Newbie Quiz: Mwende Hahesy
Posted on: Thursday, September 22 2011
Mwende Hahesy joins BAVC as our brand new Enrollment Advisor in the Training & Resources Dept! In addition to helping students figure out the best classes for their needs (ZOMG have you seen our stunning October class schedule?), she'll be upgrading the admin office's overall style klout by several digits.
1. The story of your life starts out with which 10 words?
"And the first thing they did was question her existence."
2. What's your astrological sign?
Leo, through and through.
3. How do you take your coffee?
Start off with some medium roasted beans. Then french pressed and piping hot with a little sugar.
4. Name two things you believe in.
Family and Understanding.
5. What's your power animal?
Cheetah!
6. What's the last song/movie you paid money for?
"Contagion." Meh.
7. Who would play you in the BAVC movie and why?
Thandie Newton's body possessed by Groucho Marx's ghost. Why? Because, wouldn't that be entertaining?!
8. Most embarrassing job?
One summer in college I did lawn care maintenance in a neighborhood where all these big-wig Microsoft guys lived. Their wives were very particular on how to pull their weeds. Very particular. Plus I'm allergic to grass so I was a sniffling, drippy mess.
9. What snacks do you eat at the movies?
Popcorn with curry powder and Raisinettes.
10. What are you most likely to be doing at 9pm on a Thursday?
Finishing up dinner with roommates, about to start a game of Blokus or a movie.
11. If you weren’t working at BAVC (and money was an object) what would you be doing?
Probably juggling freelance public radio gigs with on-air relief hosting and other odd jobs.
12. If you weren’t working at BAVC (and money was no object) what would you be doing?
So many things! I'd love to go to Kenya and record elders telling traditional riddles and stories. I'd travel all over Africa interviewing and recording soukous, afropop/funk, taarab, and rai musicians. Globetrotting in general with lots of eating along the way!
13. What are you looking forward to most in your new job at BAVC?
Meeting all the different kinds of students who come to take classes here at BAVC. And being around all my interesting co-workers!
