ETP = Free Training for CA Companies |
|
UPDATE: Wondering about the future of ETP training at BAVC? Here's the scoop. Training on our current contract with the state ends on July 20th of this year. We will apply for a new contract as soon as we are given the green light (in a perfect world, this will be in early September). As soon as our contract is approved, we will need paperwork from every participating company and anyone who wants to train on the new contract (see parameters below). The sooner we receive your paperwork, the sooner you can begin taking classes! What about worst case scenario? If Governor Schwarzennegger and the California legislators don't agree on a budget, the whole process is stalled. The money for training doesn't come out of the general fund--it's amassed through Unemployment Insurance deductions from your paycheck, so, in that sense, we know the money is available. However, without an agreed-upon state budget, all California state monies are tied up. Additionally, some legislators (and in the past, the Governor, as well) want to dip into that ETP fund to help balance the budget. Here's the bottom line: we feel confident that BAVC will be granted another ETP contract since we have been contracting with the state for 11 years, quite successfully! We'll have everything in place ready to send out to company liaisons so that you can begin training as quickly as possible. Feel free to check back on our site, call us or email edu [at] bavc [dot] org. Till then, it's a waiting game. In the meantime, you can take advantage of our 40% off sale!!

It seems too good to be true but through a state agency called the Employment Training Panel, BAVC has been providing industry-authorized training to employees at qualifying companies at no cost for the last ten years. Over the years BAVC has trained employees from a range of companies including: all the television broadcast stations, SF Chronicle, AQKA, Intel, Adobe, Safeway, WildBrain, Williams Sonoma, Pixar, Ubisoft and Lucas Film, among many others. The Employment Training Panel (ETP) is a business and labor supported state agency that assists employers in strengthening their competitive edge by providing funds to offset the costs of job skills training necessary to maintain high-performance workplaces. Currently, this training is fully subsidized at no cost to qualifying California-based employers through July 2010. What does that mean? It means that, right now, employees at qualifying companies train at BAVC for free. It means that a diverse range of companies are building their skills and increasing their competitive edge in our classrooms. Current areas of training include:
