If you are currently or were recently receiving CA Unemployment Insurance benefits you may qualify for government training dollars. What you need to do is to obtain authorization through an EDD One-Stop (for example - in Daly City: Peninsula Works; in Oakland: East Bay Works). Each One-Stop has a finite pool of money to draw from for training but you do not have to live in the same neighborhood that the One-Stop is located in to apply there. Go here to find the a list of San Francisco One-stops. All of BAVC's certificates are WIA-eligible (WIA means Workforce Investment Act and is a federally-funded program). If you are interested in having the federal government pay for your training, please contact your One-Stop/EDD office and set up an appointment with a counselor to arrange to take a WIA-eligible certificate program at BAVC. Let them know that BAVC is on the ETPL (Eligible Training Provider List). Once your One-Stop has approved your eligibility, contact zoe [at] bavc [dot] org. You may need to schedule an intake test. FYI: If you are approved by the One-stop, the state may extend your unemployment benefits. There is no deadline to apply. Once eligible, training can begin immediately! Check out our Certificates here.
