BAVC is pleased to welcome Daniel Teixeira-Gomes as BAVC's new Director of Technology. As the Director of Tech, Dan will be responsible for our internal technical infrastructure as well as helping to provide vision and leadership around our future programming related to technology trends and innovations. Dan comes to BAVC after serving as the Chief Technical Officer at California Newsreel. Prior to that, Dan served in technical positions with the SF Art Institute and Film Arts Foundation. Not just a techie, Dan is also a filmmaker and has been part of the film community here in the Bay Area for several years.
Like all newbies, we welcome Dan with 10 questions . . .
10 Questions for the Newbies
1. The story of your life starts out with which 10 words?

2. Do you know your astrological sign? What is it?
Yes. Aquarius ... but not a believer ... even tough I read my horoscope
daily ... hang on didn't you give me heaps for this at Film Arts?
3. How do you take your coffee?
Continuously, and thick enough to stand a spoon in. I think
it's more accurate to ask how much coffee I have with my sugar and milk.
4. Name two things you believe in.
The power of independent media
Truly ubiquitous information technology - the internet cloud will be more freely available than water or electricity
5. What's the last song/movie you paid money for?
Song: Joe Led Taxi
Movie: Anvil
6. Who would play you in the BAVC movie and why?
The English Patient
7. Most embarrassing job?
Sound Man on "Party Police: Vegas Bikers" ... esp. since it was so popular
8. What snacks do you eat at the movies?
Anything I can fit in my mouth ... big candy fan ... usually chocolate
raisins, large coke, large popcorn (fake butter, salt and yeast ...
hmmm yeast)
9. What are you most likely to be doing at 9pm on a Thursday?
Staring at a fresh blank page, waiting for the words to emerge.
10. What are you looking forward to most in your new job at BAVC?
Working closely with our diverse community of media makers to instigate social change.
