Merger with Youth Sounds

Founded in 2001 at McClymonds High School in West Oakland (where the graduation rate was a lowly 6%), Youth Sounds served school-age youth through programs in video, audio, and music production in a wide variety of school-based and after school programs in some of the most challenging neighborhoods in Oakland.

Youth Sounds merged with BAVC's youth programs in January 2006, creating BAVC's Next Generation Programs, a regional network of high school- and community-based training centers for low-income teens in video, music,  digital arts, gaming and animation.
