Balboa High School (SF)

Located in the Excelsior district of San Francisco, Balboa High School serves primarily Hispanic, African-American and Asian youth from the surrounding Mission Terrace neighborhood. At Balboa, BAVC runs BUMP, a digital music production program for students grades 9-12 in collaboration with the school's own media arts program. BUMP is designed to capitalize on teens’ interest in hip-hop and other forms of urban, digital music and give them an opportunity to begin a pathway to creative self-expression, higher education and employment. Students learn professional recording and digital mixing techniques (and other 21st Century skills) using the latest in computer-based recording technology.

BAVC currently runs programming at Balboa during school hours, 1.5 hours a day, 5 days a week.
