Srsly. How come you aren't taking Flash classes?

In 2009, 500 people took a Flash class at BAVC. In 2010, 180 people took a Flash class at BAVC. In 2011, 32 people have taken a Flash class.

Flash ain't dead, humans. Didn't you watch our live webcast of One Size Doesn't Fit All: The Straight Scoop on HTML5 and Flash? No? You didn't? No worries. Here's the edited version with experts Sarah Soward, Gabriel Dunne and Morgan Nixon breaking it all down for all y'all.

In fact, we'll even tell you where the good parts are.

About minute 4:00 - Sarah gives us a brief overview of what HTML5 is about and when you might use it to build something and when you might use Flash, instead.

Around minute 8:45 - Morgan points out some of the new features of HTML5 including using fonts.

About minute 16:30 - Gabriel discusses and demos interactive elements in HTML5 and Flash and talks about when to use which one.

Then they roll up their sleeves and answer the obvious questions.
HAS HTML5 KILLED OFF FLASH?
DOES APPLE OWN HTML5?
CAN FLASH WORK ON A MOBILE DEVICE?
AND OF COURSE, WHO WOULD WIN IN A FIGHT: A RHINO OR A GRIZZLY?

As you might suspect, these two tools both work best for different things. For example, HTML5 has no DRM capabilities and is only supported in 3 browsers. Flash is best for animation, games, and audio, plus Adobe developers are working hard to integrate seamlessly with HTML5. But HTML5 is free. And revolutionary. And innovative.

Still too busy to watch? Ok, you're missing 30 minutes of cool stuff but we get it. That's why we've posted the essential links these guys talk about in the video. Oh, and while we're at it, here's a list of classes you'll want to sign up for:
