BUMP Records gives young artists the opportunity to develop real-world skills through participation in a youth-run record label. Students accepted into the program develop their own high quality music projects under the guidance of professional staff.  Individual creative time in the recording studio is balanced with structured group workshops where students receive instruction in specific areas relevant to working in the music industry.

Workshops are divided into two main areas:  a) Lyric Writing and Artist Development, and b) Technical Training. Through their involvement in BUMP, students are challenged to pursue their creative passion seriously while also cultivating an awareness of their own communities and developing transferrable professional skills.

By the end of a BUMP programming session, every student should have:

  • A completed musical project
  • Demonstrated individual artistic growth
  • A basic understanding of the music industry
  • Participated in a performance event
  • Created basic promotional materials (artist bio, press kit, etc.)
